One of the constant challenges for online mind map users is limited screen size. With the whole world going mobile and using small-screen devices, this problem is now even greater than in the past.
To address this:
Create a "full screen view" which hides everything (all controls, etc.) except the mindmap itself. This will hide the top menu bar, so extend the right-click context menu functionality so it:
- includes the functions from the top menu bar, and
- works on any part of the map (on empty space too, not just when modifying existing nodes and relationships), so one can add nodes, relationships, etc. by using the right-click function.
Extending the right-click functionality to include ALL functions is a good idea anyway (not just for full-screen view), so one doesn't have to keep moving the cursor to the top menu bar.
An elegant implementation of full-screen view would "show" the top menu bar when the cursor is moved to the top edge of the screen. Similarly, the right-hand menu panel should have this "hide/show" functionality so it automatically appears when one moves the cursor to the right-hand edge of the screen, and disappears when one moves the cursor away. This way, one always has a full view of one's mindmap, except when one needs to access specific menu functions that aren't available with the right-click context menu.
Also, the bottom menu bar should be eliminated by moving its functions into the top menu bar, thus freeing up valuable screen space. The icons and text on the top menu bar should be made smaller, and the menu bar itself narrower, thus freeing up additional screen space. Also, one should have the option to view only menu icons (not text), for a cleaner, more elegant interface. Experienced users of MindMeister don't need the text explanations anymore. The text can pop up when one hovers the cursor over a menu icon.

A fullscreen view is planned for the future.
